I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things!

In our college there is a one Guard Aunty. The very first time I came across her was when one college student had died in a road accident and everyone was gathered at the college campus to mourn and pray for his departed soul.  After attending that, I returned to the college hostel and saw Guard Aunty sitting near the heater as it was the coldest month of the winters. I stopped by to ask about her well-being and sat near her. She was also disheartened because of the misfortune everyone witnessed by losing one precious student and said "parents se pucho uske bacche ke Jane ka dukh Kya hota hai bachhe samjhte hi nhi khash usne Alcohol pike drive nhi Kiya hota toh aaj vo shyd jinda hota". She said, I known that pain when someone loses their own dear ones because I have lost my husband in March 2019. Then I sympathized with her and asked more about her husband death and that is when she told me that earlier he was a guard in this college but died due to some illness in 2019 and...

Periods: Still a taboo

An Anecdote on periods. I remember a day when I visited my aunt's house in 2013 for summer vacations. One day was my cousin's birthday and during celebrating the Birthday while cutting the cake my aunt asked me to pass the Matchbox to her from the pooja Ghar.  Next day, we all sat together (my aunt, cousin and me). At that time my cousin asked "Mumma why did you tell Sadhna to pass the matchbox from the pooja Ghar while she is going through in periods? " My Aunt's said "Oh sorry, I was unaware of that" and started scolding me saying that "mummy ne ye nhi sikhaya ki periods m pooja Ghar m nhi jate". I was really hurt by her behaviour and cried a lot. One thing that came to my mind was how orthodox can people get that only by touching the matchbox the whole Mandir gets impure. Do you really think the women during menstruation (which is the reason of your birth) is impure? India where several goddesses are worshipped. One of them Devi needs such p...

A small help can bring a big change

This morning, sweeper came by so I went outside to hand him garbage then I saw that he brought his daughter who is 9 years old along with him. I was caught off guard and felt dejected seeing her and expressed my gratitude towards God as I am blessed with everything I need to make my life survivable and then I asked that person why he brought his daughter with him as she was so naive and young to do this work Instead she should be in studying like other children and then he told me "bhen ji haath m lag gyi thi toh le Aya tha...." hearing to this I was short of words and said no worries but try not to bring your child to this work because your generation did this that's why u r doing but try not to pass this to your child as it will affect her future generation also. The moral of the story is that we are blessed with everything we need in our lives. It is upon us to understand the difference between our needs and our wants and if you have more than your needs then try to sh...

Unnati is Beautiful

She is Unnati, Came to my home to spend some time. So She Wakes up Early in the morning and starts revising tables, but it sounds irritating to me because at that time I sleep and it's like an alarm ringing but still at the same time I feel cheerful considering how dedicated she is about her studies. Every time she is like "didi humko kam dedo ,didi ye padha doh " and the way she says, it's overwhelming. One fine day when I was talking to my friend jyoti on call "unnati said didi humari bhi bat kra doh " then I said okay then she started talking to my frnd , asking her, didi humko ye pdhna hai humko aap ye sikha dogi kya. I laughed and at the same time I felt isko sbse pdhna hai (didi, bhaiya , jyoti and mujh se) So the thing is studying in a government school there is no good teacher and no proper education provided to students but still she is so dedicated about her studies . Government nd private doesn't matter but baccha's dedication matters. She...
